Man Flies Jet Powered Wings over Swiss Alps

Icarus, whose artificial wings melted when he flew too close to the sun.

Yves Rossy built his own wings but unlike Icarus when he took his maiden flight over the Swiss Alps he never flew too close to sun.

Ten foot wide jet powered wings propelled pilot Yves Rossy on his maiden flight above the Swiss Alps.

It took the pilot five years to build his machine with the help of sponsors. With 110pd foldable carbon wings and four German built model airplane engines with 200lbs of thrust and an acceleration of 190 mph Rossy fulfilled one of mankind's most long sought after dreams, to have wings and fly.
