Democrat Debates:Unwatchable for a Reason

Duane Patterson, on the Hugh Hewitt blog at Town Hall must have the ability to read minds. He puts pixels to what millions were thinking:
Tuesday evening, virtually no one watched the Democratic presidential debate on MSNBC, because by and large, it was virtually unwatchable. But there was one section that caught my eye, and if you are someone who cares about the continued existence of the state of Israel, regardless of which political party you belong to, it should have caught your eye as well.

Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is well known for his apocalyptic speeches about how the Zion state cannot continue, how they must be wiped off the map, etc. So when a Holocaust-denying, religious zealot is in a position of importance in a country who is trying to obtain nuclear weapons capabilities, when that same country is supplying or training many of the main terrorist organizations in the world today, when that country is interfering in the metamorphasis of Iraq by supplying weaponry that has killed our troops, you would naturally conclude that Iran is a growing threat, is not showing any signs of cowering to international sanctions, and could indeed grow into a threat that will require a military solution to stop an unthinkable genocide.
Exactly. When military options are ruled out, the only options left are nagging and hand-wringing. Admittedly, the Democrats are proficient at both, but that doesn't mean either will slow down the Iranian mullahs on their way to turning the Zionist Entity into a nuclear-tinged parking lot for Syria.

For example, Democrat candidate Bill Richardson called for a "diplomatic Surge" after a speedy American troop withdrawal. Diplomatic surge? Only in a Democrat war room could such a phrase be uttered without everyone present collapsing in laughter.

What's this "diplomatic surge" going to offer the Iranians that would make them pause in their nuclear ambitions? Royalty rights to Richardson's next UFO paperback?

The Democrats are all dancing on the head of a defeatist pin.

If the other side doesn't think there's any consequences to behavior that might offend, then offensive behavior carries no penalties for them. Somehow, one guesses that Tehran will survive both a diplomatic surge and the next Dem hand-wringing offensive. Iraqi and Israeli citizens won't be so lucky.

As Patterson puts the Clintonesque "stand/clarification/waffle/today's position":
Standard Clintonian double-speak. She will only pledge to try. But if they do become a nuclear power, well, Israel, it sucks to be you.

The Democrat debates were unwatchable. In Israel and most of Iraq, they were unthinkable.

MORE ON THE DEBATES:
The Democrats debate firm stands on military options.
Edwards' take on Clinton's stand on her Iran war vote:
Asked whether he stood by his characterization of Clinton’s rhetoric as “doubletalk,” Edwards replied firmly, “I do.”

Sugar Daddy Murtha Never Met Johnstown Pork He Didn't Like

A not-so-surprising article by the Wall Street Journal might alter vacation plans next year. Instead of Disney World, families might want to head to Johnstown--America's Pork Palace. John Murtha dishes it out and the Wall Street Journal scoops it up.
If John Murtha were a businessman, he'd be the biggest employer in this town.

The powerful U.S. congressman has used his clout on Capitol Hill to create thousands of jobs and steer billions of dollars in federal spending to help his hometown in western Pennsylvania recover from devastating floods and the flight of its steelmakers.
Johnstown's a friend in need and John Murtha's surely a friend indeed. Murtha might think about moonlighting as a spokesman for the "Other White Meat".
More is on the way. In the massive 2008 military-spending bill now before Congress -- which could go to a House-Senate conference as soon as Thursday -- Mr. Murtha has steered more taxpayer funds to his congressional district than any other member. The Democratic lawmaker is chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, which will oversee more than $459 billion in military spending this year.
John Murtha might switch sides in his campaign against the War in Iraq--if the conflict could be moved to central Pennsylvania. Outspoken war critic Murtha has railed against expenditures in Iraq. Apparently, he'd much rather that more of America's interests be fought and funded in Johnstown.
A review by The Wall Street Journal of dozens of such contracts funded by Mr. Murtha's committee shows that many weren't sought by the military or federal agencies they were intended to benefit. Some were inefficient or mismanaged, according to interviews, public records and previously unpublished Pentagon audits. One Murtha-backed firm, ProLogic Inc., is under federal investigation for allegedly diverting public funds to develop commercial software, people close to the case say. The company denies wrongdoing and is in line to get millions of dollars more in the pending defense bill.
So Murtha is delivering the bacon. While he slanders Marines in Iraq, he ladles out federal slop to military projects that don't benefit anyone but those working in his 12th District.

The Marines Murtha leaped to attack at Haditha might have gotten a fairer hearing if they'd strapped pork chops onto their backs.

A Slither Through The Hate-Filled World of Tedrall

Yesterday, Little Green Footballs pointed out the latest offering from the twisted little cartoonist known as Ted Rall. After looking at some of Rall's other hate-filled scribblings, it might be good to offer a tour. So here's a slick slither through the Hate-Filled World of Tedrall:

Ted Rall on October 24:
When Bill Clinton was president, Republicans said he should be afraid to speak at military bases. That should go double for Bush. The next he shows up to use you as a TV prop, soldiers and fellow Americans, boo the crap out of him. What's the worst he can do? Kill you?

The cartoon that got everyone upset:
[click on cartoons to enlarge them.]

Perhaps, though it's hard to imagine why, a perfectly intelligent person might have joined the military early in the Bush Administration. Four years into Iraq and six years into the meatgrinder of Afghanistan, however, it's fair to say that only a less than brilliant person would sign away his life for, literally, nothing. (Save your e-mails, righties: citing "patriotism" as a reason to enlist doesn't work. French patriots didn't fight for the Vichy regime during World War II. They joined the resistance. A patriot would have nothing to do with the military while the White House is occupied by an illegitimate coup leader.)

Anyway, if the carnage continues in Iraq for another 500 years, it stands to reason that the average I.Q. of those who remain behind will increase. Thus this cartoon...
The smiley face is a nice touch, for someone making money off the deaths of soldiers. Maybe he's auditioning for Official Cartoonist of Code Pink? Chicago Ray takes issue with Mr. Tedrall.
This human shitbag really takes free speech to it's limits with these disgusting and near treasonous during wartime kiddie scribbles, damning the very people that give that p***y the right to draw what he draws. He also pens a paid column excerpted below that spits out the same anti military and general America hating garbage in word form, including one yesterday that is nearly the most despicable thing I've read throughout the entire war without a doubt.

Chicago Ray is just getting warmed up.
Yesterday's column is just another hate filled left loon statement spitting and pissing on the soldiers that this worm wouldn't have the guts to get near in real life nor anyone like myself for that matter while spewing this drivel out loud, his perverted way of supporting them is his mantra. Lest he'd get his dimunitive ass whipped, just like he obviously did all through his entire life judging by his inner hatred for people who unlike himself are stronger than he filled with character and strength, just like these soldiers that protect this country and the people within it including scum like himself day in and out without question 24 /7 - 365.

Again, providing him along with the rest of us the very freedom that he abuses hiding behind the first amendment to say and write the vile things that he does and get paid for it no less while he's at it. So in other words and ironically not only does that scrawny little shitbag owe his freedoms to those very soldiers he despises, but the very food he eats, clothing he wears and the air he breathes.

in other words his entire pathetic useless existence is provided courtesy the sacrifice and deaths of US soldiers of today and yesterday that he claims to be fighting for by his twisted opposition to them following their commander in chief's orders fighting a war against terrorism and terror.
Tedrall got fired from the New York Times in March 2004. How nutbaggish do you have to be get fired from the Times? Pretty whacked, one would be tempted to answer. Tedrall, while mocking people who suit up and die for their country, really is a little girl when his own little piggies are getting stepped on.

After the Times canceled his cartoonish cartoons, he wrote and whined and complained and begged the three guys who read him to write letters. For those who have a bathos Jones, the whole mawkish story as related by Tedrall, can be perused. A sample (from March 9, 2004):
Right-wing bloggers are at it again. It wasn't enough to get my cartoons pulled from The New York Times--now they say my "whining" about it is unseemly. Of course, the warbloggers like to keep this tactic to themselves, they're so damned good at it. But to hell with that.

If you're tired of losing every cultural and political battle, then please join me in mimicking the relentlessness of the right. Write to the Times to let them know how you feel about them pulling my cartoons in response (solely, as they admit) due to Republican pressure:
If one is going to go in for hate, it's the hate of giving Tedrall's website more attention than it would ever get otherwise. So let's give a little attention to Cox & Forkum. The conservative cartoonists took a look at their Tedrall below.
The cartoon that attracted their attention follows. Notice his use of "Afghan resistance" instead of the "Taliban".

Just so you think that Tedrall's thoughts never turn to love, that's just not true. We leave this last cartoon as evidence.
Tedrall's work can be viewed by Borat & buddies in central Asia these days. One place his work is featured is Turkmenistan. If it's any consolation, at least these little love notes won't be seen by New York Times' readers.

Tedrall's latest from Central Asia:
It's just one big, steady climb up the career ladder for Tedrall.

After Blackwater: New ADS Ray Gun For Iraq May Be Ready Next Year

by Mondoreb & Little Baby Ginn

In the aftermath of Blackwater, non-lethal crowd control is an issue that commanders in Iraq very much have on their minds. They may soon have a new weapon to use as early as next year. It's not a science fiction weapon, but one that's been in the making for the last decade.

There's been some buzz over the last year or so about the deployment of the new weapon with a military-sounding name, the Active Denial System. It may be ready as soon as next year for use in Iraq.

More from the Houston Chronicle:
There's no doubt this oversized ray gun can deliver the heat. The question is, how soon can the weapon, which neither kills nor maims, be delivered to Iraq?

At a rain-soaked demonstration of the crowd-dispersal tool here Thursday, military officials said one could be deployed early next year. But others still need to be built and undergo more testing before being shipped, a slow-going process at odds with urgent demands from U.S. commanders for the device.

What the troops may see as needless delays, Pentagon officials view as necessary steps toward fielding a weapon never used before in combat. The device, known as the Active Denial System, uses energy beams instead of bullets and lets soldiers break up unruly crowds without guns.

That means fewer civilian casualties, a key ingredient to success in Iraq.

"We've been perfecting the art of the lethal since Cain and Abel," said Marine Corps Col. Kirk Hymes, director of the Defense Department's Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate.

The goal now, he said, is to provide U.S. troops in hostile environments with a way to respond that is more potent than shouting but less final than shooting. To do so in a package that is safe, mobile and sturdy enough to withstand the rigors of combat shouldn't be rushed.

"We don't want to hand the operating forces a science project," Hymes said.
Commanders always like to have more options at their disposal and this would give them one more option. After Blackwater, crowd control in Iraq without fatalities, is an important issue. Let's hope troops in Iraq have it soon. And let's hope it's more than a science project.

A little background on the Active Denial System from Wikipedia:
The ADS works by directing electromagnetic radiation at a frequency of 95 GHz[4] toward the subjects. The waves excite water molecules in the epidermis to around 55 °C (130 degrees Fahrenheit), causing an intensely painful burning sensation. While not actually burning the skin, the burning sensation is similar to that of a light bulb being pressed against the skin.[4] The focused beam can be directed at targets at a range of just under half a kilometer, or 500 yards[5]. The device can penetrate thick clothing, although not walls[5]. There is no indication on the feasibility of electromagnetically shielding a person from its effects with a wire mesh or Faraday cage, in a similar manner that a microwave oven prevents radiation escaping. As the beam excites the water molecules in the skin, water bearing materials such as wet clothing/towels, wet pastes/gels, vegetables or meat could effectively absorb the energy, although the military claims that wearing wet clothing actually intensifies the effect.
